24 hours door-to-door

Summer is here. The segue from work to vacation was intensely busy, irritating, complicated, and exhausting, capped off with a frantic drive from Sofia to Toruń. Magda did 95% of the driving, leaving me to dick around with a small camera in the front seat during the times I wasn’t sleeping (badly, but still). I [...]

Last night's party

The Bulgarian staff threw a party last night to honor (belatedly) Saint George’s Day. It raged:

Adam: Papa. PAPA! I would like to go to that party AGAIN.

Possibly related: he ate his weight in ice cream.

Triglavski narodni park

More for the Slovenia doesn’t suck file:

Lake Bohinj is one of our very favorite places not only in Slovenia but in the world. Magda and I spent our first getaway there, and have been going back regularly ever since, but had never managed to get up onto the dramatically wild massif above the lake until [...]

SNAKE EGG! The Hatching

Adam’s aunt, my sister, thought it would be a good idea to send him a SNAKE EGG for Christmas. Her package, full of good stuff otherwise, arrived just hours before we were departing for our our trip to Poland, so coupled with that and the inherent horror of a Chinese SNAKE EGG the thing sort [...]

Just to be safe, we scattered some white around the place, produced our own Santa-like homunculus, and broke out the camera.

Jolly Old Saint Nick [...]

November skies

Let it end as it began:

This month of daily posting is at a close. Get ready for December.

5500 kcal/hour

The apparently annual celebration of chocolate in Gradisca d’Isonzo over in Italy had been a subject of our dinner conversations for quite a while. Last year’s visit to the gig never found its way to isoglossia, yet one event in particular is worth showing to the public (before and after the act of consumption of [...]

"Mama flyin' up deyew!"

Magda had an interesting Saturday morning at Lake Bohinj, taking a tandem jadralni padalec flight from the Vogar launch site on the lake’s steep northern shore. There was a certain amount of downtime both up top and down below as we waited for the lake’s morning fog to clear. This is what mobile phones were [...]

August skies

Let’s wrap this summer up.
