Isoglossia is dead, long live isoglossia.com!

That’s it. We’re pulling the plug on isoglossia.

Okay, not really pulling the plug. It will continue to occupy some MBs on our provider’s server, and the archives will be just that. But content, which had dried up to a trickle since our departure from wonderful Slovenia, will no longer be forthcoming.

Here.

Our drive to continue providing [...]

Is this thing on?

Yeah, don’t get too excited. Last night I started fossicking around again under the hood of this thing and found that with a minimal amount of fooling I could finally restore the old Slovenicentric theme to this blog [EDIT: for ten minutes]. This does not make it any less out of date, but it does [...]

Reconstruction

Okay, so I spoke too soon regarding the WordPress upgrade, as is visually apparent to any regular visitor. ‘Failed’ should read ‘managed’, ‘a’ should be ‘every’, and change ‘more’ to ‘never’.

Enjoy isoglossia’s personality-free default theme while it lasts.

To be fair, the custom theme that has turned out to be responsible for all the breakage [...]

Upgrade: good news bad news endless loop

Quick FYI for those who still haven’t gotten around to deleting the isoglossia feed from their RSS delivery system: we have grudgingly upgraded to the latest version of WordPress following a warning from our hosting service that failure to do so within a week (last week) would result in the site being shut down, [...]

New hosting — problems solved (we hope)

Recent problems with access to this site have led us to move to a new server. I mention this only because I know that some visitors were getting error pages of various flavors both before and after the move, rather than the urinating toddlers and defeatist screeds they’d expected. I hope that all the access [...]

Upgrade notice

If an analogy were necessary, I would say that I have just completed the blog equivalent of replacing the transmission using a bent pair of pliers and a butterknife. I let the two-year anniversary of this site pass without mention, but that unmarked occasion rekindled in me the sense of the lazy, the Luddite, and [...]

Browser headaches — includes survey!

In the last post I described installing Parallels and running Windows on the Mac as an overall positive experience. Regular readers will know that I avoid using Internet Explorer if at all possible, but with a new install that’s all you’ve got, and the first thing I use it for is going to Mozilla to [...]

Na GloBloPoMo: end-of-term report

Here you’ll find what is surely the most original idea for a post on this, the last day of November.

Especially alert readers will have noticed that there’s been a new post here every damn day this month. This is because I accidentally signed up for an activity called “NaBloPoMo” or something similar. I am still [...]

Happy birthday to i

One year ago, I had only a vague idea of what a ‘blog’ was. I did not read any blogs at all aside from two maintained by old friends, which allowed me to more or less keep up with their lives. Their blogs served as a sort of email supplement, but that’s as far as [...]

Alarming statistics

As of a few hours ago we are on vacation. This has given me some time to look at the site’s statistics. I am proud to report that Yahoo!’s search engine returns www.isoglossia.com as the #1 site to turn to when given the search string “nova gorica” + tits. Google results are similar: isoglossia comes [...]
